About the Safer Parking Scheme

The Safer Parking Scheme is managed by the BPA on behalf of Police Crime Prevention Initiatives Ltd, a subsidiary of the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC).

A Park Mark^® is awarded to parking facilities that have met the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police. These requirements mean the parking operator has put in place measures that help to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour, doing everything they can to prevent crime and reduce the fear of crime in their parking facility.

Parking facility owners/operators that join the scheme are from a variety of commercial and public sectors. A whole range of parking facilities are covered by the scheme which is also open to those organisations or individuals who do not operate or own a car park but wish to demonstrate affiliation to the scheme as part of their interest in the reduction of crime and the fear of crime in society. About Park Access^®

Park Access^® is jointly owned by the BPA and Disabled Motoring UK and will be managed and administered by the BPA.

Park Access^® incorporates two existing schemes - The Disabled Parking Accreditation (DPA) and People's Parking – which are ending. Whilst both the DPA and People's Parking measured similar criteria as part of their assessment of a parking facility's accessibility, Park Access takes these standards and raises them still further to automatically become the UK's industry benchmark for accessible and inclusive parking and electric vehicle charging facilities.
